The pour-over method is really a simple and quick way to handcraft coffee to your taste. Here are the steps to brewing your own pour-over coffee

1. Fold the seams of the Melitta filter and place in Melitta cone pour-over brewer. Place pour-over on top of stainless steel carafe.

2. Scoop in finely ground coffee. The fresher the coffee the better.

3. Start with fresh, cool water. Heat the water to just below a boil.

4. Pour the water in a swirling motion to fully saturate the grounds and create agitation for optimal extraction. The slower the water is poured, the bolder and more developed the cup will be.

5. Enjoy your handcrafted cup of coffee!


Tip: Temper the carafe with hot water, then pour it out before brewing.

Almost perfect

Overall I love this setup, nice looking, well insulated, easy to use. Only downside is the poor design of the spring release lid component-not sturdy and the first lid I got must have been cracked as it leaked when pouring before breaking and becoming inoperable. Melitta replaced the entire unit and the new lid works great and doesn’t leak, but I do worry that it will break like the first one and I won’t be able to get just the part I need. Works really well with the slightly oversized Chemex filters

Review of Thermal Pour-Over Coffeemaker and Stainless Carafe Set

We really like this Pour-Over Coffeemaker and this is our second one. Our first thermal carafe was accidentally put on a burner which ruined it, so we ordered another one to replace it. We use this for camping because we do not have any electricity to brew our coffee. We enjoy eating outside and the carafe keeps our coffee warm and is large enough to share our coffee with other campers.

Great coffee system

We use our Melitta pour over coffee maker when camping. It makes enough coffee for the family, it is easy to pack and can’t break; it makes great coffee; and it keeps the coffee hot a long time for the sleepy heads in the group. We have a second carafe for larger groups when we need to make more coffee or if there are decaf drinkers. And Melitta customer service is great.

Terrific pour over

I bought Lavazza super crema espresso beans. I tried them with the regular pour over come and maybe I didn't grind it finally enough I don't know it wasn't great. But then I tried it with the new stainless steel thermal. 51 g finally ground beans like espresso fine, 215 heated milk into the SS Carafe +1105g boiling hot water, first I get a starter bubble and you can see the crema and then I pour in a couple of hundred grams at a time until I get to 1105. The coffee is magnificent and it's the best coffee I've ever made. I don't know why but something about this carafe and the thermal insulation must make the coffee steep even more and it comes out great. I drink a lot of coffee like 40 oz in the morning so I don't want to sit there and make me 3 oz cups in an espresso machine and this is perfect. I wasn't sure if it was going to work with espresso beans but you have to almost make a powder and like I said I think the heat from the thermal carafe enhances the flavor. People who buy this will be very surprised and I would love to know anyone who buys it and isn't surprised. Everyone has to adjust to their own taste but for me the 51 G of the coffee was perfect and all the other measurements were great and I use lactaid regular milk. I may experiment with a little bit more coffee and a little bit more milk and maybe some cinnamon to see if I can come up with something like a latte but you'd be surprised how good this coffee is going to taste in the carafe if you're by the right coffee and the super crema was really good. I also tried it with what I had left from the Kirkland's ground is the real espresso beans. Good luck and play with it! The carafe I used was the Melitta 60 oz stainless steel thermal carafe. I got the coffee from Amazon and it was Italy Best Coffee that fulfilled it and I couldn't be happier with them.
